Travels in Brazil - Visitor Feedback
I love that so many people are enjoying my adventures and that some find them inspirational. Here are some verbatim things that people are saying...

A wonderful letter received in March 2001:

I can write in English, mas eu quero mesmo é refrescar seu Português.

(January 2002) "Six of us (4 adults, 2 kids-14 &12) are planning on a trip to Salvador in March. I stumbled across your narrative on the net and wanted to let you know what vivid images I took from it, and not just the photos. Since the trip I'm going to be taking wasn't yours, I could still live it vicariously. Thanks for putting it on the web."

(January 2002) "Read thru your travelogue on Brazil on the internet, and really enjoyed reading them. Very interesting! Kinda brought back a rush of old memories!" -Sriram - India

"This is great. I feel like a kid in the 40s waiting for the next episode of the lone ranger to come over the radio." (from a Netscape executive)

"Nice pages...first travel writing I've read in a while that didn't go off the rails into "noble savage" territory...My favourite part of your writing was the coffee thread that wound its way through the whole experience. I am a coffee lover, and your coffee stops provided convenient reference points to make the story a little more human."

"Came across your writings on your travels in Salvador. Really enjoyed your perception on the city. I also got to visit Salvador in my teens back in 66 and again in 73. Oh what fun i had, doesn't sound like anything changed. I wish to return there some day, thanks for rekindling some of my memories."

"I just finished reading your web page and travelogue and am just thrilled. We have very similar stories (especially as to why you started studying Portuguese). I traveled to Brazil this summer for the first time and am very anxious to go back. I guess I'm just writing to thank you for your page. It was great and entertaining!"

"I cannot describe in words what I felt while reading your journal...i printed out some of your essays and will use it for inspiration that within a month or two, my ass will be on a plane to Brazil...I would love to know more about your trip, reading it made me feel as if I was there....you have been an inspiration...muito obrigada!!!! "

"Your travelogue was really made with the right spirit. Not biased, open-minded, friendly and gently cautious. It´s just the best way Americans should enjoy Brazil (Bahia) and make of it a great and unforgetful experience of life. As a South Brazilian dweller I highly appreciated reading your account of the exotic North-East."

April 2001: "great travelog of yours! It is so inspiring." Kajetan from Stockholm

"So I would add my voice to the many who, no doubt, have already asked you, por favor, to go on! And soon, while it is still fresh in your mind, OK?"

"I stumbled onto your Brazil site by accident and found that reading the "diary" of your travels has brought back numorous memories of my time there. ..Thanks for the trip "back" dowm memory lane."

"Thank you so much for putting your stories and pictures on the web.  I and my two friends (all women) are about to leave for a 2 month trip to Brazil. ... Reading your stories and seeing your pictures has made me even more excited."

"oi querida! i've been very much enjoying reading about your adventures in brasil. saudades indeed!"

"this was very interesting and enjoyable...thank you for sharing your experience/view of Brazil"

"Please keep on as I love to travel and have never been to brazil."

Hey, I enjoyed your site about the visit you made to Brazil.  I lived for a few years in Belo Horizonte and even made a trip to Ouro Preto once.  Your fotos brought back memories.

"I sent this to my daughter who's in Brazil right now, as a Rotary foreign exchange student.  I would think she'd enjoy this!  You did a fabulous job on this."

Your page is really very interesting...I think Brazil is more than a TV documentary (like CNN, for instance)...it is a great adventure.

"I enjoyed reading your account."

"I had the same experience as yours but only I have not been to the places as you were in Brazil.  I really enjoyed your story and I am glad that there're another woman like me love Brazil." (from Thailand)

"It was great to find your page. I will visit Brazil next year and it gives me and idea about what I'm going to find there."

"Your site is terrific and brings back great memories."

"Excellent web page....!!!!!!!"

"I loved your description of my country (Brazil). It's very interesting how cultural differences can surprise people... me, for instance. There are moments where I had to stop... to laugh. Sex pistons! I see now the young guy, trying to be something he didn't know exactly what, writing the name of a rock band (he supposed). I was particularly interested in your eating adventures. Do you know that I ate acaraje only last week for the first time? It's horrible. Ahgh. Eating banana shakes all morning then... please help me that I'm getting fat only thinking about it. So, that's a good job."

And a  nice flame that I enjoyed...

"I read all your site about your travel to Brazil, but it's not the real Brazil!!! You just visit the place for americans or europeans see! And everybody in world think that we are a lot of black indians, that our water is poisoned, that we have no civilization here! This really sucks! Just soccer player's and samba dancers"
