"The Brazilians have a word -- saudade -- that means a longing for what could have been. It's a feeling as universal as the sun, but in Brazil no one, including the traveler, allows saudade to interfere with the moment.
While American cereal manufacturers would have us think toucans are cute creatures that live on colorful sugary cereal, in fact they are beasts that consume humans, shoe first. This toucan, at an aviary in Foz de Iguacu, attempted to take me down into its den. Luckily I managed to give it a swift kick off my foot, thanks to my Tae Kwon Do training.
